SPORTS LEGENDS CHRISTIAN OKOYE, ANTONIO DAVIS, BOB GRANT HONORED IN CHICAGO DURING THE ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION: LIFE BEYOND THE PLAYING FIELD ANNUAL SPORTS AWARDS BANQUET “CELEBRATING DIVERSITY, TECHNOLOGY & LEGACY”

Rainbow PUSH Coalition, Citizenship Education Fund and PUSH Excel Annual International Conference  2019 Sports Banquet Awards honoring sports legends for their professional acumen and achievements on and off the playing field, within the sports industry is a very special event which featured a special roundtable discussion with leaders in the sports industry.

This year’s honorees included Antonio Davis – Former NBA All Star, Newly Named Director of the NBA Player Association Program “Off The Court”.  Also, leading Sports/Technology Project w/Jason Kidd & RPC SPORTSTECH Program; Christian Okoye – Former NFL Player, Founder of The Christian Okoye Foundation for Youth & CA Sports Hall of Fame; Bob Grant – Former NFL Player. Chairman of the NFL Retired Players Congress; Nzinga Shaw – First EVER Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer in the NBA. Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena and Maurice Stinnett – First black man appointed VP of Diversity & Inclusion at an NBA team. Brooklyn Nets, NY Islanders, and Barclays Center.

Prior to the Awards program included a special roundtable on SPORTSTEQ GAME CHANGER PANEL: Entertainment, Education & Entrepreneurship.  The panel included Panelists: Ray Austin, Former NFL Player. Co-Founder, Fan-Controlled Football League; Mike T. Brown, Former NFL Player. Founder of “Win-Win”, Gaming for Good; Clifford Chapman – Managing Partner, Cre8ation Ventures & Co-Founder, FIST Global Sports Tech; John Matthews – C.E.O., Prothymos Technologies;  Gus Parham – Dir. MEDIA PRODUCTION PROGRAM

An industry-recognized outlet designed to introduce middle and high school students to the world of Recording, Radio, Film. Our programs and workshops are designed to train participants for careers as audio engineers or music producers, live music engineers, DJs, or beat makers and to give them the opportunity to break into the industry by helping you gain hands-on experience and connections.

DRONES

This activity will introduce students to the evolving world of unmanned aircraft operations. They learn how Drones are being used in today’s world. Students will be introduced to Drone operations through class room instruction, flight simulators, and actual flight operations.

29th Annual MLK Scholarship Breakfast "Sketches of a New Legacy"

29th Annual Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Scholarship Breakfast, Sketches of a New Legacy, hosted by PUSH Excel. The Annual MLK Scholarship Breakfast brought together civic, clergy and business leaders as well as educators and community stakeholders to highlight the rich history of PUSH Excel, its programs, and its focus on both educational victories and challenges. Held annually on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day, the Breakfast raises money for the PUSH Excel Scholarship Program, which assists high-potential teens with the financial resources needed to attend college. This year’s event recognized leaders in the corporate and educational sectors that have made outstanding contributions in philanthropy and significant strides toward educational equity.  Special guests include Rev. Jesse L. Jackson Sr., Founder, Rainbow PUSH Coalition; Honorable J.B. Pritzker, Governor, State of Illinois; Dr. Janice Jackson, Superintendent, Chicago Public Schools; and Honorable Judge Greg Mathis.
